Obituary for Rita D Delperdang (Weber)

Rita D. Delperdang, 90, of Le Mars, Iowa, formerly of Marcus, Iowa, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. Father Daniel Guenther will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery in Marcus. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Earnest – Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus with the family will be present at 4:00 p.m. There will be a Rosary by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas at 4:00 p.m. followed by a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.

Rita D. Delperdang was born on August 1, 1926 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Amos and Agnes (Collins) Weber. She began her education at Tilden Township country school near her home. Rita later graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Cherokee, Iowa and finished her education by taking classes Westmar College in Le Mars to earn a teacher’s certificate.

Following graduation, Rita taught at a country school for three years. On June 19, 1947, Rita and Francis Delperdang were united in marriage at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. They made their first home on the Delperdang family farm north of Oyens, Iowa. In 1951, the family moved to the Weber family farm near Marcus and farmed there until returning to the farm north of Oyens in 1961. Retirement came in 1987 when Rita and Francis moved into Marcus. Rita moved to Park Place Assisted Living in Le Mars in 2012 where she enjoyed the fellowship of others. As her health declined she found herself a resident of Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in February of 2016.

Rita was an active member of Holy Name Catholic Church. She participated in St. Ann Guild and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Rita also taught religious education (CCD) and sang in the choir. Along with assisting Francis on the farm and raising her family, Rita spent a great deal of her free time as a volunteer. She gave of her time at her children’s school along with her church. Rita kept a large garden and was known for her green thumb. She was also a master seamstress and enjoyed going to dances with Francis.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Mary Wiltgen of Le Mars, IA, LaVonne Delperdang of Sacramento, CA and Donna (Gary) Mousel of Le Mars, IA; her sons, Michael (Wanda) Delperdang of Le Mars, IA, Paul (Dottie) Delperdang of Seney, IA, Daniel Delperdang and Glen (Christina) Delperdang both of Le Mars, IA; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Even of Alton, IA; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Konz of Le Mars, IA, Rita Wiederholt of Le Mars, IA and Sr. Janet Delperdang, OP of Sinsinawa, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis on March 31, 2005; a grandson, Christopher; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Delperdang; a sister, Mary (Joe) Augustine; brothers, Joe (Flornie) Weber and Tom Weber; and in-laws, Mildred (Joe) Kinney, Ralph (Dorothy) Delperdang, Urban Wiederholt, Bob Konz and Jay Even.
