Obituary for Marjorie Claire Doornink (Lambert)

Marjorie Claire Doornink was born December 28, 1925 in Plymouth County to Delphis & Florence (Lucey) Lambert. She graduated from LCHS in 1943 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Westmar in 1973. On May 11, 1948, Marjorie married Wallace Doornink. They made their home on the Doornink family farm north of Le Mars.

Marjorie was a gifted artist and has a painting on display at the Plymouth County Historical Museum. She also loved to sing. Together, Marjorie and Wally enjoyed building bird houses as a hobby. They were members of the Le Mars Bible Church. They loved their church and their church loved and supported them. They were also members of the Hilltoppers Group. Marjorie spent the last years of her life at Brentwood and enjoyed life there immensely. The family would like to thank the staff for their loving care.

Marjorie will be lovingly remembered by her children; daughter, Kathleen (Donald) Budd of Florence, CO; son, Richard (Roberta) Doornink of Cameron, MO; daughter, Twilla (Greg) Vath of Dalton, NE; four grandchildren; Holly Gonzalez, Allen Morris, Ruth (Derrick) Sears, and Reuben (Dana) Doornink; seven great-grandchildren; Matthew & Heather Gonzalez, Hope Hammontree, and Leah, Griffon, Talon & Benjamin Doornink.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace; brother, Lee Lambert; and an infant son.

Memorials can be given to the Le Mars Bible Church.
