Obituary for Florence Estella Grosenheider

Le Mars, Iowa – Florence E. Grosenheider, 90, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. Chris Meier and Rev. Dr. Jean Ziettlow will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 with the family present from 5-7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Florence Estella Grosenheider was born January 18, 1928 in Le Mars to Ole and Charlotta (Kloster) Andersen. She graduated from Le Mars Community High School. Florence taught at a country school until she married William Grosenheider on October 19, 1946 at St John’s Lutheran Church. She stayed at home raising her two boys until they started school. In 1956, the family moved to their current home in Le Mars. At this time, she began working as an egg handler for Sheehan’s. Later Florence worked for Harker’s which later became Tyson’s. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of Dorcas Circle. Family was her life and she never missed anyone’s birthday.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons; William (Gail) Grosenheider, Jr. of Casper, WY, and Thomas (Mary) Grosenheider of Le Mars, grandchildren; Lori (Mike) Tomlinson, Christopher Grosenheider, Dawn (Travis) Togstad all of Casper, WY, Matthew (Audra) Grosenheider, Corey (Sammy) Grosenheider of Le Mars, 20 great-grandchildren, brother; Richard (Ginger) Andersen, and a sister-in-law; Margaret Grosenheider.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings.
