Obituary for Max W. Clark

Kingsley, Iowa – Max W. Clark, 71, of Kingsley, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2007 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kingsley, Iowa. Father Thomas Toft will officiate. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the Rohde – Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley, Iowa. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a Scriptural Prayer Service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Friday.
Max William Clark was born on April 15, 1936 in Kingsley, Iowa to Ivan and Velma (Crom) Clark. He was raised in Kingsley and graduated from Kingsley High School in 1954. He would later graduate from the University of Iowa, School of Pharmacy in 1958. Max worked for Walgreen’s Pharmacy in Chicago before entering the United States Army. While in the Army Max was a pharmacist at the San Juan, Puerto Rico Hospital. After his Honorable Discharge he returned to Kingsley and worked at the McMahon Pharmacy. He later took a position with Merck Pharmaceuticals as representative. In July of 1970 Max purchased the McMahon Pharmacy. He owned and operated Clark’s Pharmacy until 1984. He then worked at the pharmacy in Kmart in Sioux City, Iowa until his retirement in 1999.
Max was an enthusiastic avid sports fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Green Bay Packers, and the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and golfing. Max was also an avid reader.
Max will be lovingly remembered by his wife Janette of Kingsley, Iowa; his children Ellen (special friend Dale Scheitler) Clark of Oyens, IA, Greg (Becky) Clark of Lawton, IA, Laura (Randy) Schiltz of Remsen, IA, Bobbi (Kevin) Martensen of Kingsley, IA, Tim (Fiancé Michelle Tabke) Clark of Remsen, IA, Todd Clark of Sioux City, IA, and Tom Clark of Sioux City, IA; his mother Velma Clark of Kingsley, IA; grandchildren Corey, Megan, Colton, and Connor Clark, Nate Rose, Alex, Katie, Abbie, Austin, Jessica and Tyler Martensen, Aubrey Wynn, Max Clark; and a special family friend Boomer.
He was preceded in death by his father Ivan; and a sister Adrienne McDonald.
