Obituary for Paul C. Ogren

Marcus, Iowa – Paul C. Ogren, 94, of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Friday, August 8, 2008 at his home near Marcus. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2008 at Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus. Rev. Gary McDonough will officiate. Burial will follow at the Marcus – Amherst Cemetery in Marcus. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Grace Untied Methodist Church. The family will be present from 6-7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral on Monday.
Paul was born in rural Tilden Township June 4, 1914, the youngest of 10 children born to Johan and Augusta Ogren who emigrated from Sweden. Paul was a farmer all of his life and worked with his sons raising cattle and crops. Paul was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus. He was a life member of the American Hereford Association of Kansas City, Missouri and served on the Marcus Fair Board for 15 years from 1957 to 1972. He was also an inductee of the Cherokee County 4-H Hall of Fame.
Paul married Catherine Pitts on January 25, 1941. They resided on the Pitts Family Homestead founded in 1877 (one of the two original homesteads in Tilden Township). Paul continued to live on the farm until his death.
He will be lovingly remembered by his five sons and wives, Rod of Marcus, Roger and Sara of Exeter, Neb., Kenneth and Kate of Marcus, Steve and Renea of Marcus, and Chuck and Kay of Marcus; 10 grandchildren, Justin, Shannon and her husband Cliff Schultz, Ryan and his wife Bambi, and Aaron; David and his wife Malina, and Michelle; Elizabeth and her husband Nicklas Koenig, and Eric; Celeste and her husband Adrian Richardson, and Garrett and two great-grandchildren Maxwell and Ashtyn; and two sisters-in-law Annabel McCord of Auburn, Ca and Myrtle Atkins of Roseville, Ca.
He is preceded in death by his wife Catherine, his parents, and his 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
