Marcus, Iowa – Betty J. Ohlendorf, 82, of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Graveside services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Marcus, Iowa (located one mile south of Trinity Lutheran Church on C-38 and C Avenue). Rev. Don Meyer will officiate. There will be no visitation prior to the service.
Betty Jean Ohlendorf was born on January 24, 1925 in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Walter O.A. and Hazel E. (Russie) Hambrock. She graduated from Sutherland High School. On March 9, 1947 Betty and Glenwood L. Ohlendorf were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Remsen, Iowa where they raised their family. Betty and Glen retired in 1992 and moved to Marcus. Glen passed away on February 16, 2000. Betty continued living in Marcus. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had served on Ladies’ Aid. She enjoyed playing cards.
Betty will be lovingly remembered by her children Daniel B. Ohlendorf and his wife Rose of Orange, CA, Dean A. Ohlendorf of rural Remsen, IA, and Cynthia L. Bauman and her husband Mitchel of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren Amanda Ohlendorf, Mindy Rash, Brandee and Megan Ohlendorf, Cody (Jen) Ohlendorf, Zachary Bauman, Abbie, Jessica, and Harlee Bauman; great-grandchildren Ethan and Aidan Rash; and a sister Reba Powell of Neosho, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Glen; and a brother Richard Hambrock.
