Obituary for Wayne Harold Evans

Wayne Harold  Evans
Granville, Iowa - Wayne Evans, 63, of Granville, Iowa passed away Wednesday April 10, 2013 at Orange City Area Health System in Orange City, Iowa following a courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville, Iowa. Father Terry Roder will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Granville with military honors. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the family present from 5-7 p.m. There will be a Parish Rosary Service at 5:00 p.m. followed by a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday prior to Mass.

Wayne Harold Evans was born on February 12, 1950 in Le Mars, Iowa to Arnold and Catherine (Masuen) Evans. He graduated from Le Mars High School in 1968. Following high school, Wayne enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country as a mechanic until earning an Honorable Discharge on December 7, 1972 having attained the rank of Tech Sgt.

On August 23, 1975, Wayne and Deborah Snyder were united in marriage at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, Iowa. Wayne worked as a Pressman for CRI (Vogel Paints) in Orange City for 40 years. He was forced to retire in November 2012 due to his failing health.

Wayne was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing. He was a loyal Ford lover and avid Minnesota Vikings and NASCAR fan. He spent his spare time riding his Honda Goldwing motorcycle and playing with his grandchildren.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Debbie JoAnn Evans of Granville, IA; son, Dustin Wayne Evans and his wife Michelle Lee Evans of Granville, IA; two grandchildren, Catherine Elizabeth and William Wayne; a sister, Rosalie Galles and her husband Dale of Marcus, IA; brothers, Norbert and his wife JoAnn of Le Mars, IA, Roger and his wife Marvella of Le Mars, IA, Ray of Alton, IA and John and his wife Sue of Remsen, IA; and several nieces and nephews especially his Godchild Theresa and her husband Tim Jellema of Le Mars, IA.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Arnold and mother, Catherine (January 20, 2013); mother-in-law and father-in-law, Florence and William “Gregg” Snyder; a sister-in-law, Pam Bird; a brother-in-law, Rodney Snyder; and loyal and faithful hunting companion and family dog, Apollo.
