Lisa Opheim, 49, of Maurice, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 following a motor vehicle accident in Maurice. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-8 p.m. to greet friends. Visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service.
Lisa Kay Stevens was born on February 21, 1965 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of James and Marcia (Probst) Stevens. She attended high school in Spirit Lake, Iowa, where she participated in drama, cheerleading and band. Lisa graduated in 1983. She furthered her education at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Her first job was in Chicago, Illinois with Embassy Suites. She later worked for Blockbuster before moving to Terrill, Iowa. Lisa took a position with Cornell Abstracting in Spirit Lake and then worked for the Dickinson County News.
On November 22, 2010, Lisa and Douglas Ivan Opheim were united in marriage at Las Vegas, Nevada. She was currently an Administrative Specialist at Peoples Bank in Sioux Center, Iowa. Lisa was passionate about the theater and directed plays at the Postal Playhouse in Le Mars along with holding a position on the board of directors. She had also been active with the Spencer Community Theater.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Doug of Maurice, IA; her children, Sean Levitt and Megan Rosson both of Peoria, IL, Brandon Kesler and Aaron Kesler both of Round Lake Beach, IL; Doug’s children, Ashley Opheim of Orange City, IA, Shawn Opheim of Maurice, IA, Josie Opheim and Dylan Opheim both of Orange City, IA, a grandson, Calvin Rosson; and her father, Jim Stevens and his special friend, Nancy of Spirit Lake, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and her mother, Marcia on February 3, 2003.
