Charlie Eufers, 69, of Le Mars, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2015 at All Saints Catholic Parish-Saint James Church in Le Mars. Father Paul Eisele and Father Richard Ries will Concelebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at St. James Church in Le Mars. The family will be present at 5:00 p.m. to greet friends. There will be a rosary at 5:00 p.m. followed by a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Friday.

Charles Gary Eufers was born on July 17, 1945 in Le Mars, Iowa, to Charles and Justine (Bruscher) Eufers. He graduated from Gehlen Catholic Highschool in 1963. He later attended Universal Trade School in Omaha, NE.

On August 14, 1965, Charlie and Susan Walter were united in marriage at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. He began his career at Whelen Motors and Aesop and Sons. He then spent 15 years with Walker's Ditching where he learned many valuable skills and made life-long friends. He finished his career with 27 years of service to the City of Le Mars as both Street Superintendent and Public Works Supervisor.

Charlie was always passionate about the City of Le Mars. He took special interest in recycling, planting trees, and preserving nature within the community. He served on several boards, most recently for the Plymouth County Landfill.

Charlie and Susie retired in 2007 and spent eight unforgettable winters in Arizona enjoying friends, nature, and each other's company. They were blessed to spend most of these winters with Charlie's brother, Nick Eufers and his wife, Junia.

In his spare time, Charlie took joy in yard work, gardening, wood-working, bird watching, and morning coffee with The Truck Stop Gang.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 50 years, Susie Eufers of Le Mars, Iowa; two daughters, Carol Stark and her husband, Rob and Jessica Wichers and her husband, Travis both of Urbandale, Iowa; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Ashley Stark; a brother, Nick Eufers and his wife, Junia of Ocean Park, Washington; a brother-in-law, Marvin Kunkel of Remsen, Iowa; and his canine sidekick, Scooter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two unborn grandchildren, Hope and Joshua Wichers; a sister, Darlene Kunkel; and a sister-in-law, Sally Eufers.
