Linda R. Flammang, 67, of Kingsley passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at her home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Kingsley United Methodist Church. Rev. Cynthia Morrison and Rev. Donovan Morrison will officiate. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the Johnson – Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral on Thursday.
Linda Rae Flammang was born on April 12, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Kenny) Hicks. She graduated from Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School in 1966. Following school, Linda worked at a Dry Cleaner in Sioux City.
On August 17, 1968, Linda and Roger Flammang were united in marriage at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City. Linda took a position at the Zenith TV manufacturing plant in Sioux City. She worked there until it closed in 1978. Linda returned to school and earned her CNA and went to work for Matneys Colonial Manor Nursing Home. The family moved to Kingsley, Iowa in 1989 and Linda continued caring for residents at the Kingsley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She retired three years ago.
Linda was a member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church. During her retirement she volunteered with Kindergarten classes. She enjoyed camping with her family at Snyder’s Bend in Salix, Iowa and trips to the Black Hills of South Dakota. She liked to read and collect wolves and snowmen.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Roger Flammang of Kingsley, IA; a daughter and her husband, Lisa and Jon Nichols of Sioux City, IA; a son, Jason Flammang of Altoona, IA; three grandchildren, Alexis, Benjamin and Michael Flammang; three step-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Trinity and Ethan Nichols; brothers and sisters, Larry and Donna Hicks of Crystal, MN, Margaret McPherson of Sioux City, IA and Ernie Hicks of Sgt. Bluff, IA; and a brother-in-law, Bob Van Briesen of Mankato, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Donna VanBriesen; a brother-in-law, Loy McPherson; and a nephew, Richard Hicks.
