Condolence: Dear Robert and Family, Valda was a "one of a kind" woman. I always will remember her as a brave and spirited woman. She never backed down from a battle with her health; she continued to put on an indomitable front, even until the very end. She certainly had many health challenges that many people would not have been able to bear or endure. Her positive attitude and zest for life indisputably allowed her to live a long life. I am privileged to have known and cared for her. May you all revel in your memories of this vivacious gal.

Condolence: Velda was a wonderful, dynamic woman and served as a mentor and role model for me on many occasions. A chance meeting with her was always a treasure. I will keep her in my prayers.

I have always appreciated your interest in me when I've been in LeMars years after graduating. Your work in the classroom has not been forgotten either. God's grace and peace be with you!

Condolence: Dear Uncle Robert, Marlowe, Rodney and families,
We were heart broken to learn of Aunt Valda's passing. What a wonderful person she was, full of energy and she possessed an amazing, positive spirit. She used to call me "big guy" when I was in school and it always made me stand up a little taller. I enjoyed the evening meals we were invited to during my college years-always great fun and the dinners were delightful, delicious and elegant. I never knew how she could accomplish it all with everything she had on her plate at the time. What a wonderful mother, wife and citizen she was-generous of spirit, nurturing and creative at home and invariably positive in adversity. You shared a very special bond and provided and example of love and caring in marriage. We shall miss her. Love, Marc and Jane

Condolence: Uncle Robert, Marlowe, Rodney, and families: I remember the great energy and interest in all things and all people that Aunt Valda had (she is the only person to call me "kiddo"-I don't remember the occasion or circumstances, I just remember that it made me feel important). She is remembered fondly by those I know it the Sutton area, who always asked about her when I am there. I know she will be missed, but I also know she will be remembered. Our thoughts and prayers are for you all.

Condolence: My mother and I shared a love of lifelong learning, creative writing, appreciation of the beauty of nature, a love of cats, and more. I am grateful that she was my mother, and she will be deeply missed. Her collection of original poems has an honored place on our book shelf. Whenever I look up the night sky and see the constellation Orion, I will think of the star we named after her.
