Condolence From: Alan Russell
Condolence: I was one of Eli's professors in the Materials Science & Engineering Department at Iowa State. He was a bright student and a joy to have in class. He would sometimes stop by my office to talk about metals and a variety of other scientific topics, and I enjoyed his enthusiasm for a topic that he and I both shared. Yes, he's left us way too soon, but he seemed to be living life with enthusiasm and a quiet charm that I still remember almost a decade after the class ended. May his spirit live on like the 3.2Kelvin microwave background radiation from the Big Bang that he and I once discussed. Alan Russell

Condolence From: Bruce Mills
Condolence: Deb and Bruce, My heart is breaking for you all. Know that there is another person in the orbit of your lives sending love and prayers. I wish there was a way to be there, even if only in silence, to show that you are surrounded by folks hoping to help carry the weight of this burden. May you find in family and friends a healing grace. Bruce Mills

Condolence: There are no words...I am so very sorry to hear this Bruce and Deb, and hope my prayers help bring some peace and strength during a time of incredible helplessness, confusion and despair. Nothing is more sad than early promise lost too soon, and losing a child is unnatural...such loss distorts everything, from you very soul to the very identity of the family. May God be holding Sam close, and may friends, family and love support you doing this tragedy. I am truly sorry.
