One time when we went to Dunns to celebrate someone's birthday, I don't remember whose, Dorothy brought out this beautiful angel food cake to serve.  The birthday person was to cut the cake for serving, but when they tried to put the knife through the cake it wouldn't budge.  Dean & Dorothy kept encouraging the person to try again, to push harder, but the knife would not go through.  After the Dunns could not hold in their laughter any more, Dorothy showed us that actually the cake was not angel food but rather was made of caramel corn! She'd put the caramel corn into the angel food pan and then frosted it so it looked like a regular cake.  Another time of much laughter at the Dunns.  Plus, the caramel corn was delicious, as was everything that Dorothy made.  I've made this cake several times over the years, also without telling the recipient the truth, and had fun watching them try to cut the cake and recalling our fun day with the Dunns years before.  That's what good friends do, they stay with you forever.
