Obituary for Bonnie Jean Woodke (Leitch)

Bonnie Jean Woodke, 94, of Le Mars, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at her home. A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars. Rev. Janis Christensen will officiate. A private family burial service will take place at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Bonnie Jean Woodke was born on May 20, 1924 in Carpenter, Iowa to Benjamin and Minnie (Wilson) Leitch. After graduation from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, she went to Remsen where she was a home economics teacher.

Bonnie and Wade Woodke were united in marriage in 1947. She will always be remembered as a longtime member of the Le Mars library staff, from which she retired in 1997 at age 73. Bonnie was a lifetime member of the United Church of Christ.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Mary (Henry) Killian of Cleveland, Ohio; Robert of Burke, Virginia and Martha (Eric) Fiech of Inwood, Iowa; grandchildren, Scott (Terri) Callantine; Julie (Mark Brooks) Mahern; David (Miranda) Fiech; Katie (Derek) Moulton and Michael (Amanda) Fiech; Bonnie was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Bailey, Delaney and Adeline Moulton; Skyler Callantine and newly born Carter Fiech.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Wade; her parents Benjamin and Minnie; her brother Starr (Therese) Leitch and her sister Marynetta (Lloyd) Grant.
