Ron was born August 20, 1938 in Le Mars IA to Raymond and Olivia (Wilberding) Baack. He went to grade school at St. Joseph school in Le Mars.
He lived at home with his mother and worked at Sheehan Produce for a few years, then began his career as a car detailer at Pews Auto Dealer. He moved on to work at Kidder Knoepfler for many years in Sioux City, and then at Harkers and Decker Trucking in Le Mars. He NEVER had a dirty vehicle. In fact, those who went for a ride with him were required to take their shoes off before getting in the car.
Ron had a love for motorcycles too. He enjoyed taking trips to bike rallies and honking the 8-10 air horns he had mounted on his bike. Giving his nieces and nephews rides on his motorcycle was the highlight of their visits. Taking video of family gatherings was another pastime he enjoyed.
In 1995 after his mother passed Ron bought a home on 4th street in Le Mars. He was the ultimate MacGyver! Everything in his home was “fixed” or rigged up in a way that was functional for Ron.
After retiring he traveled many times to train shows and antique shows in South Dakota and Minnesota. He was very proud of the grandfather clock he won from Ahlers clocks, and the antique clock his grandpa gave him.
Ron is survived by two sisters, Jane (Len) Rohde of Sheldon IA, and Mary Pedersen of Clive, IA. A sister-in-law Linda Baack of Le Mars and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, three brothers, Bill, Ken, and Ray. A brother-in-law Richard Pedersen, two sisters-in-law, Mary Baack and Barbara Baack.
