Pamela Lou Halligan was born on August 2, 1946 in Illinois. As a young child she was raised in an orphanage and was later adopted by Irvin and Maxine Begler in Cherokee, Iowa. Pam graduated from high school in Cherokee and later attended the Tyler Beauty School in Le Mars, Iowa. She worked as a beautician in Sioux City, Remsen and Cherokee, Iowa.
On June 16, 1967, Pam and Roger Sanow were united in marriage at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee. They made their home in Remsen, Iowa. Pam worked at K-Products for several years and Remsen Apparel in Remsen and as a CNA at Park Place Estates in Le Mars. She loved caring for the residents there. It was her passion. She was there 15 years until her retirement. She had a talent for decorating as well, especially at Christmas so she would share her gift and decorate Park Place Estates every Christmas and every holiday so the residents could enjoy the spirit of the season. She was so good, people started hiring her to decorate their homes for Christmas. Pam was a very hard worker with a great work ethic which she instilled in her children.
Pam’s greatest joy in life was caring for her family. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to cook, bake and share her crafts with them. She could take a branch and a ribbon and make it spectacular. She was proud of her beautiful back yard where she would walk them around and show how things were growing each year. Her Irish heritage led her to be very proud of where she came from. She liked to travel with her grandson, who is a baseball umpire. She loved to go shopping with her daughter and granddaughters. And her trips with her girlfriends she would talk and laugh about for months on end. But those little moments in her life that she cherished most of all are those spontaneous trips to Le Mars for a cup of coffee with her husband Roger. After 51 years of marriage, he could still make her laugh so hard she’d cry. And above all, she loved the Lord and believed with her whole soul that she would be reunited someday with her other loved ones in the Kingdom of Heaven. Pam was an inspiration to many and her beautiful laugh and smile will be greatly missed.
