Obituary for Larry Allen Smith

Larry Allen Smith, 74, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 19th, 2019 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars with military honors conducted immediately following. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2019 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation on Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

Larry Allen Smith was born on March 17, 1944 in Rural Onawa, IA to Edna (Kirk) & Raymond ‘Curley’ Smith. On November 7, 1969 he married the love of his life Donna Mae Brownlee in Odebolt Iowa. They had met at the Orchid Club where they loved to dance to Elvis. Larry was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, former Policeman and spent over 30 years of his life working for Schuster Trucking of LeMars Iowa (We affectionately remember Orville and Norma Schuster & Lucky) Larry foremost was a family man and he is lovingly remembered by; a brother Bob Smith of Colorado, a sister Sue Smith of Omaha Nebraska, a daughter Sheryl (Jepson) Reiling and her husband Will of Ida Grove, IA; a daughter Kim Miller of Le Mars; a son Allen Smith of Le Mars; a daughter Kelly M. Smith and Fiancé Damien Kildea of Kildare, Ireland; grandchildren Sarah Benna-Doyle and Husband David of Sydney Australia, Caleb Benna, Samuel Reiling, Mesidhe Sauter and Husband Joshua of Cherokee Iowa , Clarissa Philips of Omaha Nebraska, Kristian Lowery, Joshua Lowery, Andreia Smith, Rejeana Smith, Shea Robert Conroy of Kildare, Ireland, Meghan Lara Conroy of Kildare, Ireland and Benjamin Griffin Conroy of Kildare, Ireland; great-grandchildren Dusty and Alyssa Schultzen, Ellie, Paxtynn, Chayce, Anniston Nielson of Omaha Nebraska and Morgan Schnoes; brother-in-law; Jim Brownlee of Sioux City, IA; sister-in-law Janice Schaffer and her husband Lyle of Galva, IA; sister-in-law Dolores Williams of Ida Grove, IA; sister-in-law Dorothy Porter and her husband Richard of Lake View, IA. And many nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Daisy Kirk, his parents Raymond and Edna; his wife Donna, brothers Dennis Smith, Terry Smith, David Smith and Dean Smith; bother-in-law Jerry Brownlee and his wife Sandy of Ida Grove, Good Friend Larry ‘Big Foot’ Molthan of Merrill Iowa.
