Obituary for Robert Norfolk

Robert Norfolk, 68, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars, Iowa. Father Jeff Norfolk and Father Bruce Lawler will concelebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a scriptural prayer service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Tuesday.

Robert Alan Norfolk was born on December 12, 1950 in Huron, South Dakota, the son of John T. and Ava K. (Jones) Norfolk. He attended school in Huron, Hitchcock, Hecla and graduated from Selby High School in 1969. He received his college degree from Presentation College and Northern State University in 1974.

Robert and Julie Miller were married in June 22, 1974. With that union came Kimberly, Daniel and Jeffrey. He later married Lisa (Puetz) Miller in September 13, 1996, and to that union came Kaitlyn and Colin, accompanied by step-sons, Vincent and Lance Miller. Robert and his family lived in Mitchell and Platte, South Dakota and Le Mars, Iowa. He was a Real Estate Agent for 37 years. He was in the medical lab field for 45 years. His current position was Infection Control Officer at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars, Iowa.

Robert was a member of the Knights of Columbus through Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell, South Dakota, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Platte, South Dakota and a 3rd Degree Knight through All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars. Robert’s most cherished times were spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family members. Music also brought happiness to him through playing Bass guitar and singing in a band for many years. He enjoyed camping, traveling and just browsing local discount establishments. Robert was the family gadget man. If you needed it, he most often had it.

Grateful to have shared his life is his wife, Lisa Norfolk of Le Mars, IA; seven children, Kim (Bruce) Easland of Pierre, SD, Daniel (Luciana) Norfolk of Windsor, CO, Fr. Jeff Norfolk of Garretson, SD, Vincent Miller of Le Mars, IA, Lance Miller of Aberdeen, SD, Kaitlyn Norfolk and Colin Norfolk of Le Mars, IA; six grandchildren, Brooke, Spencer, Julia, Sarah, Noah and Caleb; brothers, Dick (Pat) Norfolk of CA, Don (Linda) Norfolk of WI, Dave (Eva) Norfolk of CA, Steve (MaryJo) Norfolk of SD; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Maynard (Lilly) Puetz of SD, Alice (Lee) Johnson of NE, Marcia (Steve) Rennich of SD, Peggy (Hank) Donahue of VA, Jon (Lori) Puetz of SD, Juliana (Doug) Janssen of SD, Norma (Russ) Swadener of NE, Boyd (Norene) Puetz of NY, Helen (Dwight) Kleinsasser of NE, Christopher (Lezlie) Puetz of MN, Christine (Brian) Burg of SD, Paul (Jenna) Puetz of MN; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild, Sammy Easland; father-in-law, Englebert Puetz; brother, Larry Norfolk; and brother-in-law, Mark Puetz.
