Perry B. Nelson, 60, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, January 12, 2020. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the funeral home. The family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 7 p.m.
Perry Benjamin Nelson was born on May 3, 1959 in Spencer, Iowa, the son of Ben and Anna Mae (Whalen) Nelson. He graduated from Le Mars Community High School and later attended college at Iowa State University in Ames. After college, he began his lifelong career as an electrician. He first worked in California and then moved to Phoenix, Arizona.
In 2003, Perry moved to Iowa. He met Laura Rohmiller and they were married on June 4, 2005. He continued working as an electrician and helped to wire some large projects in the area. Perry took a position at NorAm in Le Mars in 2016 where he was currently working.
In his free time, Perry liked to play the keyboards and was an avid movie fan. He also enjoyed bike riding and thoroughly enjoyed his ice cream.
Grateful to have shared his life is his wife, Laura Nelson of Le Mars, IA; a son, Shaune Nelson; stepdaughters and their husbands, Kelli and Greg Meister of Le Mars, IA and Kim and Adam Harth of Merrill, IA; a step-brother and his wife, Rodney and Janet Reinholdt of Le Claire, IA; sisters-in-law and their husbands, Christy and Marty Weed of Le Mars, IA, Susan and James Plueger of Le Mars, IA and Julie and Russell Schoenherr of Sioux City, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a stepdaughter, Katie Rohmiller.
