Obituary for Mildred L. Harms

Marcus, Iowa – Mildred L. Harms, 94, of Marcus, Iowa passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, Iowa. Due to public health concerns, the family will have a private graveside service.

Mildred L. Aldred was born in Sutherland, Iowa on December 3, 1925 to George and Edith (Triplett) Aldred. She graduated from Primghar High School in 1943. On December 12, 1943 she was united in marriage to Leonard Harms in Marcus.

She worked for Nagle Apparel Shop in Marcus in 1968 and then at JCPenney in Le Mars, Iowa. In 1979, the couple moved to Sheldon, Iowa where she went to work at Village Northwest and remained with them for over 8 years. She also worked at the community college in Sheldon for 3 years.

Mildred belonged to Faith Lutheran Church in Marcus where she sang in the choir and belonged to WELCA. She loved basketball, hand work including crochet, making blankets and quilts and dancing.

Mildred will be lovingly remembered by her children, William (Ruth) Harms of Sioux City, IA; Gary (Bev) Harms of Marcus, IA; Jacqueline (Jack) Kline of Fort Collins, CO; Bradley (Rita) Harms of Paullina, IA and Rebecca Droll of Loveland, CO; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Velma (Robert) Betz; Mary Lou Guetschaw; Dorothy (Wayne) Chambers; Shirley (Lester) Kraft; brother, Ronald (Shirley) Aldred; step-brothers, Kenneth Chesley and Harold Chesley; great-grandson, Shane Cooper
