Obituary for RoseMarie Delaney (McQueen)

RoseMarie Delaney, 88, of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen, Iowa. A family Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus followed by an interment at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery in Marcus. Visitation with social distancing will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at the Earnest – Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus with the family present from 5-7 p.m.

RoseMarie Delaney was born on February 2, 1932 at home in Remsen, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Katherine J. (Johnson) McQueen. She attended school in Marcus, graduating from Marcus High School.

On August 3, 1950, RoseMarie and Francis “Max” Delaney were united in marriage at Holy Name Catholic Parish in Marcus, Iowa. They made their home in Marcus where they raised their children. RoseMarie worked at various occupations throughout the years including Aalfs manufacturing in Le Mars, Iowa, Kohout Cap Factory in Le Mars and the Dew Drop Inn Restaurant in Marcus.

She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. In her spare time, Rosemary enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening. She liked painting crafts and portraits. She also made time for a game of cards.

Grateful to have shared her life are her children, Bev Harms and her husband, Gary of Marcus, IA, Jim Delaney and his wife, Kay of Council Bluffs, IA and Nita Dreckman and Steve Ahrendsen of Merrill, IA; her grandchildren, Michelle (Justin) Peterson, Karla (Steve) Claussen, Jamie (Jeremy) Ahlers, Jeremy (Amber) Delaney, Tanya Delaney, Patrick (Whitney) Delaney, Heather (Josh) Dunn, Heidi Dreckman, Holly (Jaek) Runner and Melissa Delaney; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Kenneth (Carole) Mc Queen of Omaha, NE; a step-sister, Sandy McQueen of Kandiyohi, MN; a step-brother, Floyd (Audrey) Mc Queen of Madison, AL; a sister-in-law, Janice (Joe) Durband of Cleghorn, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Francis “Max” Delaney; her son, Ronald; great-grandsons, Trevor and Shane; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hans and Clarabelle Delaney; a twin sister, RuthAnn (Wyman) Mefferd; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joan and Jerry Hagert, Edward and Eunice Delaney.
