Obituary for Linda Elaine Lehrman (Wessels)

Linda Elaine Lehrman, 70, of Le Mars passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, July 3, 2020. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2020 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. Timothy Geitz of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars will officiate. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home. The family will be present from 2-4 p.m. with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Linda’s family requests that masks be worn.

Linda Elaine Lehrman was born on July 11, 1949 in Hawarden, IA, the daughter of Armin and Maxene (Johnson) Wessels. She attended Le Mars Community graduating in 1967. She furthered her education at Western Iowa Technical Community College in Sioux City, IA where she received an Associate’s Degree in banking.

On March 16, 1968, Linda and James (Jim) Lehrman were united in marriage at Le Mars, IA where they made their home. The new parents lived in Colorado Springs, CO while Jim was in the Army. Returning to Iowa, Linda began working at the Le Mars Savings Bank (now Primebank). In 2003, she took a position at St. Luke’s Hospital, Sunnybrook Clinic in Sioux City as a receptionist. She retired in 2016 after being diagnosed with liver cancer. Linda received two liver transplants at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. She was always a favorite of the doctors and nurses with everyone commenting on her sense of humor and grace.

Linda was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. She enjoyed reading, knitting and her beloved Yorkies. Linda and Jim loved to travel and have fond memories of trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico and Europe, as well as many driving trips to National Parks and visiting their daughters out of state. Her most favorite time was spent with her grandchildren.

Grateful to have shared her life is her husband of 52 years, Jim Lehrman of Le Mars, IA; a daughter and her husband, Michelle Lehrman and Ramon Berber of Kansas City, MO; a son-in-law, Kyle Huinker of Tea, SD; grandchildren, Seth (Amanda) Schincke, Shelby Schincke, Samantha (Allen) Schincke, Shari Schincke, Jordan Huinker, Jeslyn Huinker, Alexxia Berber and Ramon Berber; sisters, Kris (Ron) Harvey of New Braunfels, TX; Vikki Masuen and Denise (Curt) Uden of Le Mars, IA; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Jenny Lehrman of Newton, IA; mother-in-law, Bernice Lehrman of Le Mars, IA, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Karen Huinker; grandson, Noah Lehrman Jenness; father-in-law, Frank Lehrman; and brother-in-law, Mark Masuen.
