Obituary for Kenneth Nicholas Kneip

Le Mars, Iowa – Kenneth Kneip, 84, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 27, 2020 at All Saints Catholic Parish-St. Joseph Church, Le Mars. Father Bruce Lawler will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, with a rosary at 5 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7 p.m., all at the church. Masks and social distancing will be required.

Kenneth Nicholas Kneip was born on August 18, 1936, on a farm near Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Peter N. and Alvina (Plendl) Kneip. He attended St. Joseph school and continued his lifelong career in farming.

On January 7, 1961, Kenneth and Sally Roling were united in marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, Iowa. The couple made their home South of Le Mars. Kenneth enlisted in the United States Army National Guard with Company K.

Along with grain farming, Kenneth raised hogs and chickens. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars. He enjoyed farming, playing cards and watching his grandchildren’s activities.

Grateful to have shared his life with his wife of 59 years, Sally Kneip of Le Mars, IA; three daughters, Laurie Marsh of Overland Park, KS, Susan and Dave Irwin of Le Mars, IA and Judy and Mike Hubbard of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Haley Marsh, Nathan, Jacob, Alex Irwin and Austin, Ayden Hubbard; two sisters-in-law, Janice Kneip and Connie Kneip of Le Mars, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Kneip; a sister, Marlene Harpenau; brothers, Roddy, Norman and Gary; sister-in-law, Carol Kneip; and brother-in-law, LeRoy Harpenau.
