Obituary for Josiah Angel Gonzalez

Josiah Angel Gonzalez, 18, of Granville, Iowa, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 following a motor vehicle accident near Orange City, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 2:00p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Masks and social distancing will be required. Father Bruce Lawler of All Saints Catholic Parish will officiate. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Josiah Angel Gonzalez was born on March 29, 2002 in Sioux City, Iowa to Miguel and Toddra (Benson) Gonzalez. He was raised in Le Mars, Iowa where he graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 2020. Josiah was very active in band and orchestra, starting with the trombone and finishing with the cello. He also participated in theater.

Following graduation, Josiah took a position with Cricket Wireless as the manager of the Le Mars store. He later moved to Granville, Iowa and was currently working at The Roadhouse in Orange City, Iowa. His family will remember his beautiful smile that could light up a room, his sense of humor which was out of this world and his laugh that would make anyone laugh with him. They will also miss the beautiful music he played on any instrument. He was an upcoming musician who knew music all his life. He could play anything and everything.

Grateful to have share his life are his parents, Toddra and Miguel Gonzalez and his siblings, Titus, Heaven, Abby and Angel all of Le Mars, IA; his fiancé, Dylan Johnson of Granville, IA and his family; maternal grandmother, Fran Benson of South Sioux City, NE; paternal grandparents, Juana Herrera and Angel Gonzalez of Sioux City, IA aunts and uncles, Rhonda and Shelly of Sioux City, IA, Robert of South Sioux City, IA, Patricia, Caesar and Fernando of Mexico; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Noah; and a cousin, Matt Dean.
