Obituary for Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Plueger (Peters)
Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Plueger, 80, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Accura Healthcare of Le Mars. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. James Church in Le Mars. Masks and social distancing will be required. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Thursday.
Elizabeth Ann Plueger was born on January 21, 1941 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Coletta (Kemp) Peters. She graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School in 1959 and attended dental assistant school. Betty worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Drennan in Le Mars prior to her marriage.
On September 29, 1962, Betty and Larry Kent Plueger were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars. When her children were older, she took position with Spurgeons Department Store as a clerk and later as it’s office manager. Betty retired from Spurgeons in 1999.
Betty was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish-St. James Church. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of her life. She was an avid reader and played Pinochle. In earlier years, Betty golfed and bowled. She moved to Accura Healthcare in August of 2017.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Renee Clark of Granville, IA; daughter-in-law, Brenda Plueger of Le Mars, IA; grandchildren, Kyla (James Dean) Plueger, Kendra (James Krienert) Gloden, Kari (Chris) Dominguez, Kelsey Clark, Nicole (Houston McKee) Plueger, Christopher Plueger and Derek Plueger; great-grandchildren, Dustyn, Cali, Elijah and Mariah Peters, Camron Gloden, Vincent Krienert, Audriana and Kennedy Dominguez, Madison Schiebout, Raylun and Kane Messelhiser and Hunter McKee; brothers, William and Carol Peters of Remsen, IA and Charles and Beth Peters of Le Mars, IA and Jim and Mary Jo Peters of Le Mars, IA; a sister Rose and Dennis Owens of Alton, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry, son, Richard; son-in-law, Kermit Clark; great-grandson, Aiden; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charlie and Lucille Plueger; a brother, Leland Peters; a sister-in-law, Janice Smith; and brothers-in-law, Gerald Plueger and Elmer Wilken.
