Obituary for Ann Louise Meylor (Johnson)

Le Mars, Iowa – Ann Meylor, 84, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at All Saints Catholic Parish-St. James Church in Le Mars. Fr. Bruce Lawler will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be at the church one hour before the Mass. The Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars is handling the arrangements. Ann Louise Meylor was born on February 13, 1936 in Cherokee, Iowa to Ted and Edna (Schmidt) Johnson. She was a 1954 graduate of Washington High School in Cherokee. Ann and R.J. “Jay” Meylor were united in marriage on November 12, 1955 in Davenport, Iowa where R.J. was attending Palmer College of Chiropractic. In 1958, the couple moved to Le Mars where they raised their family.

Ann was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars where she was on the altar society. She also belonged to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Legion Auxiliary. Over the years she was the owner of the Western Shed in Le Mars, worked at R.J.’s chiropractic office, Maurices and Happy Hang Ups. After Jay retired, they took their motor home to Texas, Arizona and Florida. They found a permanent home in Texas and went there every year until R.J. passed away in 2003.

She loved going camping and dancing with R.J., the love of her life. Mostly, Ann loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She found happiness attending their sports and school activities. They filled her life with so much love and joy. Ann had many friends and enjoyed going out for lunch and coffee with them.

Ann will be lovingly remembered by her children; Robert and Lori Meylor, Patty Mansfield, Theresa Walsh all of Le Mars, Iowa, Debbie Joy Heidbrink of Denver, Colorado and Susan and Steve Miller of Sioux City, Iowa; her grandchildren, Robert Meylor, Megan (Casey) Olson, Ashley (Ray) Rogers, Joshua Jacobs, Travis (Nina) Mansfield, Tyler (Chanel) Mansfield, Tricia (special friend, Megan McMorran) Mansfield, Tiffany (special friend, Lauren Stilmock) Mansfield, Breanne (Brian) Schadt, Crystal Walsh, Robbie (Cayla) Walsh, Jamie (special friend, Shayne Lowe) Heidbrink, Josie (Mitch) Frericks, Jesica (special friend, Mitch Pomrenke) Heidbrink, Jennifer (Jason) Lane, Justin (Jihan) Miller and Joshua (Tonisha) Miller; 25 great grandchildren; her brothers, Ted (Carol) Johnson of Moline, Illinois and Don (Sandy) Johnson of Naperville, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Ginger Sitzmann of Le Mars, Pam Johnson of Tallahassee, Florida and Dr. Ramona (Dr. Al) Kennedy of Cherokee, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.J. Meylor; her parents, Theodore and Edna (Schmidt) Johnson; step-mother, Bernice Johnson; her beloved grandparents who raised her, Frank and Anna Schmidt; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Mary Elizabeth Meylor; her granddaughter, Tammy Meylor Mansfield; her brother, Douglas Johnson; her sister, Sandra; sisters-in-law, Ann Hoomany, Elaine Meylor; brothers-in-law, Paul, Don and Dean Meylor, John Hoomany and Roman Sitzmann.
