Le Mars, Iowa –Diann Lynn Hamann, 70, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at MercyOne in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. Dr. Jean Ziettlow will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Diann Lynn Hamann was born on August 4, 1950 in Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Richard and Lois Arlene (Wessel) Petersen. She attended school in Le Mars, Iowa, graduating from high school in 1969. Following high school, Diann took her first job at Sears in Le Mars. She later worked as a receptionist at Dr. Art Krull’s chiropractic office. Following that, Diann worked at Plains Area Mental Health.
On June 6, 1987, Diann and Charles Hamann were united in marriage at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. She also worked for Jim Carlin Law Office in Sioux City for several years. Along with her working career, Diann and Charles served as foster parents for numerous children.
Diann’s life was centered around her family. She rarely missed an activity or event, including her nieces and nephews. She had a huge loving heart and loved holding babies. Diann served on the board of the Le Mars Little League and greatly enjoyed attending ball games. She also found time to knit, fish and play Euchre.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 33 years, Charles Hamann of Le Mars, IA; children, Joyce (Michael) Fortin of Danville, IA, Donovan Hamann and Christopher Hamann both of Le Mars, IA; grandchildren, Jacob Hamann of Milford, IA and Makayla Robinette of Ft. Belle View, VA; great-grandson, Jackson Robinette of Ft. Belle View, VA; brothers, Rick Petersen and Rod (Kerri) Petersen both of Le Mars, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
