Le Mars, Iowa – Charlotte “Chock” Jost, 83, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Rev. Christian Meier will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present from 5 – 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the funeral service on Thursday.
Charlotte Halvia Jost was born on December 28, 1937 in Kensett, Iowa to Thomas and Myrtle (Sanden) Helling. She graduated from Mason City High School and then attended La’James Beauty College in Mason City, Iowa. On August 4, 1957, Chock and Roland Jost were united in marriage in Mason City. The couple were parents to five children. Roland passed away on July 7, 1990.
Over the years, Chock worked as a telephone operator, beautician and homemaker. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars.
Chock will be lovingly remembered by her children, Mark (Laura) Jost of Climax Springs, MO, Mike Jost of Sioux City, IA, Marty (Renda) Jost of Timnath, CO, Monte (Shannon) Jost of Le Mars, IA and Misti (Donnell) Turner of Lincoln,NE; grandchildren, Jenni Jost, Sophie Glidden, Trevor Jost, Heather Jost, Amanda Hawkins, Dylan Hawkins, Montanna Jost, Eryn Jost, Zack Jost, Dakota McFarland, Dean McFarland and Caleb Jungers; great-grandchildren, Arris Shuffler, Boldon Shuffler, Kain Peters, Avin Peters and Kimi Peters; brother, Robert Helling of Longville, MN; sisters, Barbara (Charles) Gibbs of Galveston, TX, Betty Shanks of Spokane, WA and Donna (Larry) Gray of Mason City, IA; sisters-in-law, Marian Helling of Luverne, MN, Shirley Helling of Hudson, IA and Ruth Jost of Clear Lake, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland; her parents, Thomas and Myrtle Helling; granddaughter, Samantha Hawkins; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Murville and Faith Jost; brothers, Archie Helling and Thomas Helling; sister-in-law, Gloria (DeVere) Hartwig; brothers-in-law, Don Jost, Ronald Jost and Roger Jost.
