Obituary for Robert Lee Lauman

Marcus, Iowa – Robert L. Lauman, 81, of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Grace United Methodist Church in Marcus. Rev. Dr. Travis Stevick will officiate. Burial will take place at a later at Marcus Amherst Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Earnest-Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus.

Robert Lee Lauman was born on February 29, 1940, in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, the son of John
C. and Estella (Heffentrager) Lauman. He graduated from North Penn (PA) High School and
attended Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa. Robert and Karen Marquis
were united in marriage in 1961 until Karen’s passing in January of 1999.

Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 20 years from 1958 to 1978. He
was a medic (para rescue) and served in the Vietnam Conflict from 1967-1968. When he
retired from the Air Force, he settled on Karen’s family farm where he learned to be a
farmer. He would then take a position at the milk plant at Wells Dairy in Le Mars from which
he retired.

Robert married Betty Lauer in Marcus, Iowa and they made their home in 2003, in Remsen. He was blessed to find love twice in life. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, work ethic and for always putting his family first.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Johnathan Christopher Lauman of Sergeant Bluff, IA; a daughter, Jennifer Lea Brooks and her husband, John of Pueblo, CO; three grandchildren,
Madalyn and Paul Lauman of Sergeant Bluff, IA and Karen Tere Lee of Marcus, IA; his sisters,
Estella (Jim) Harper, Ann (Charles) Coleman and Virginia (Ronald) Cassel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John, Charlie, George, Elmer and Ellis. One sister, Mary Jane and his 2 wives.
