David J. Meis, 90, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will take place at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. James Church in Le Mars. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

David J. Meis was born in Le Mars, Iowa on March 15, 1932, to Alphons and Marcelinda (Alesch) Meis. He graduated from Le Mars High School in 1950 and from Iowa State College in 1954. He and Mary Sudtelgte were married on December 4, 1954. He owned and operated Meis Seed & Feed and Good Morning Mills in Le Mars with his brothers for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary of Le Mars; 8 children: Kris (John) Seely of Big Horn, WY, Marcie (Bill) Carlson of Geneva, IL, John (Susan) Meis of Le Mars, Steve (Jolene) Meis of Le Mars, Phil (Kate) Meis of Clancy, MT, Sue (DeLyle) Winkel of Washington, IA, Dave (Linda) Meis of Le Mars, and Ellen (Ken) Boeke of West Des Moines, IA; 30 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Nick Scallon of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mark (Phyllis) Meis, Larry (Dorothy) Meis, Alene Scallon, Richard Meis, and Mary Ann (James) Rawley.
