Obituary for Donald Paul Waring

Donald P. Waring, 84, of Hinton, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at his home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2022, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. Dan Kruse will officiate. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural, Hinton, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Donald Paul Waring was born on September 18, 1937, on a farm east of Hinton, Iowa, the son of Donald and Lucile (Beck) Waring. He attended country school before graduating from Union High School in 1955. Following graduation, Donald attended Westmar College in Le Mars.

On September 11, 1956, Donald enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served until earning an Honorable Discharge on September 9, 1960. Donald returned home and began working for Farmers Co-op elevator in Hinton.

On June 24, 1962, Donald and Linda Hageman were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton. In 1966, Donald joined Harley Hall to open Hall Grain in Sioux City.

Later Donald began driving for Wagner Trucking prior to purchasing his own truck and operating his trucking business. After retirement, he drove a school car for Hinton Schools.

Donald was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton. He served the church in many capacities along with holding various offices. He enjoyed golfing and fishing and took many camping trips with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Hinton Fire Department and Civic Club.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Waring of Hinton, IA; a son and his wife, William and Michelle Waring of Sioux Center, IA; a daughter and her husband, Patricia Waring and Randy Harvey of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren; Colton (Ellie) Waring, Zane (Jenna) Waring, Talon Waring, Meysa Waring and Creed Waring all of Sioux Center, IA, Brooke (Dan) Allen of North Liberty, IA and Kayla (David) Athy of Ankeny, IA; great-grandchildren, Brogan, Deacon, Rhett and Gwenyth Waring, AJ, Elliott, Harper and Rory Allen, Barrett and Nora Athy; sisters and their husbands, Karen and Tom Kelly of Madison, AL and Maureen and Bob Cabral of Arizona City, AZ., brother-in-law Lamont Hageman and his wife Lois, and sister-in-law Ladonna Newberg and her husband Denny.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Jason Cabral.
