Darvin Walter Ladenthin was born August 1, 1945, in LeMars, Iowa to Walter and Kathaleen (Kay) Willer Ladenthin. He began his career working with large manufacturing printing presses directly out of high school when he graduated from LeMars Community High School in 1963 and began working for the LeMars Daily Sentinel where he became an Offset Production Manager.
In 1965, he married Corinne Ferguson and they had their first daughter, Tracey in 1966. In 1970, the family moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan where Darv worked for Kalamazoo Printing Machinery installing and instructing on many types of printing press equipment. In 1971, they had their second daughter, Michelle. They made a life for themselves in Portage, Michigan and Darv and Corinne eventually divorced.

After many years working, Darv decided to start his own printing service and sales company, Michigan Printing Equipment, which he ran successfully for many years. He reconnected with Mary Singer whom he had known in high school, and they became long time companions. After years of living in Michigan, Darv decided to sell his business and buy into United Printing Equipment in Denver, Colorado where he worked until his retirement in 2008. It’s no surprise that Darv would have chosen to move to 2 states that provided so much beauty in their natural elements to live and he was always a consummate travel guide to anyone who visited. He could be counted on to know the area extensively and be able to recite detailed facts regarding points of interest at the drop of a hat.

After retirement, they decided it would be best to move back to be closer to their families. He built a home in Brunsville, IA where they enjoyed playing golf, meeting with the residents there and enjoying the benefits that all the nature outside their back door would provide

Unfortunately, Darv’s health gave out and he passed away Tuesday, June 21st. He was preceded in death shortly before by Mary and was surrounded by the love of his siblings and his daughters who took the day to share stories about his life in his presence as he passed.

Darv is survived by his 3 siblings: Sandy Reuter (Dave), Eileen Dreckman (Jerome) and David Ladenthin. He also leaves behind his daughters Tracey Lamoreux (John) and Michelle Straumanis (Alex). Additionally, he had 5 grandchildren: Jacob Lamoreux (Katie), Angel Lamoreux (Skyler Bauer, fiancé), Anthony Lamoreux, Olivia Straumanis and Benjamin Straumanis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a longtime companion, Mary Singer.
