Robert “Bob” Gerald Fulton was born on July 24, 1937, in Le Mars, Iowa to Kermit and Viola (DeRaad) Fulton. He and his parents lived on a farm outside Union Township. He spent his younger years as most country kids did in those days, enjoying the farm and staying busy with his brother and sisters. Bob attended Union School and graduated in 1954 at the age of 16. He loved to reminisce about those days to his kids and grandkids, and he usually had everyone laughing as he told stories about how he and his buddies cruised the streets of Remsen causing mischief and getting into and out of one scrape after another.

Following his graduation from high school, he began is college education at Westmar College in Le Mars for drafting. After two years at Westmar, on August 14, 1956, he enlisted in the United States Army and spent the next two years in the service with the majority of that time being stationed in Germany. Following his discharge on August 20, 1958, he returned to the Le Mars area and began working for Tower Construction Company.

Bob married Mary Sherlock on November 5, 1960, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Oyens, Iowa, and they began their married life in Le Mars. On April 2, 1965, they welcomed their son Jeff into the world and on August 22, 1966, they welcomed their daughter Jill. Throughout his career as a draftsman, he worked for Advance Industries and Sabre Communications. Bob was very detailed oriented, and it made him an amazing and very well- respected draftsman. He retired from Sabre Communications in 2004 but continued to do a little work from home for the company for a short time after.

Bob loved to fish, and he and his family spent many weekends camping and fishing in a variety of places with extended family and friends. He was an incredible husband, father and grandfather who truly loved every minute he got to spend with his family. He will be remembered by his family as a man who was incredibly smart, thoughtful and caring who always had time for whoever needed it. Bob was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Eagles Club.

Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mary of Le Mars, son Jeff of Remsen, IA, daughter Jill (Toby) Lorenzen of Rock Rapids, IA; granddaughters Jessie Lorenzen of Rock Rapids, IA, Jaimee Lorenzen of Sioux Falls, SD; grandson Travis (Emily) Fulton of Washta, IA; brother Donald Fulton of Traskwood, AR; sisters, Janice (John) Howd of Garritson, SD, and Jean (Greg) Arnovech of Traskwood, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister JoAnn (Charles) Verts.
