Clifford C. “Frogg” Monroe, 89, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Accura Healthcare of Le Mars. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Private family burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars.
Clifford C. Monroe was born on June 10, 1933, in South Sioux City, Nebraska, the son of Lawrence and Catherine (Burns) Monroe, the fifth of five boys. He graduated from South Sioux City Community High School in 1951. He served in the Air Force from 1952 through 1956.
Clifford and Phyllis Hanson were married on February 27, 1960 and were parents to Barbara and Brian. They lived in Sioux City, South Sioux City, Monterey Park, California and finally made their home in Le Mars in 1967. Frogg spent his years working at McCormack Distributing, Westmar College, the City of Le Mars, and Ideal Cleaners. He retired in 2001. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish - St. James Church in Le Mars.
Frogg enjoyed working in the yard and planting his flowers every spring. He also volunteered weekly to bake a cake for the kids at the Asylum and delivered meals-on-wheels. He spent hours washing and polishing his cars and loved walking and playing with his dogs.
Survivors include his son, Brian (Jill) Monroe of Fort Mill, SC; grandchildren, Ali (Will) Johnson, Christian (Ashley) Monroe, Mindy (Joshua) Farmer and their children Kyle, Josh and Lylli, Amanda (Lisa) Hansen-Smith and her children Tyra, and D’Marcus, Jason (Sheri) Hansen and their children, Cayson, and Ryan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his daughter, Barbara Hansen, brothers; Bernard, Richard, Floyd (Cal) and Donald.
