Obituary for David Milton LaBreche

David M. LaBreche, 78, of Le Mars, Iowa, formerly of White Lake, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 14, 2022, surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022 at the Le Mars Bible Church. Pastor Fred Gums will officiate. Visitation with the family present will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the church. The Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars is assisting David’s family with arrangements. David Milton LaBreche was born on November 19, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Jack and Janet (Berford) LaBreche. He graduated from Milford (Michigan) High School in 1964. Following high school, David enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and left with an Honorable Discharge. David then began his longtime career with the Huron Clinton Metroparks System as a transitman. He assisted with the planning and preparation of numerous parks and golf courses in the metropolitan Detroit area until retiring in 2003.

On June 8, 1968, David and Dianne Wilkinson were united in marriage in Detroit, Michigan. They made their home for 50 years in White Lake, Michigan, moving to Le Mars, Iowa in 2018. He loved to travel to see his family in California and Iowa, playing euchre and cribbage whenever he could, and traveling to many national parks with his wife.

Grateful to have shared his life is his wife of 54 years, Dianne LaBreche of Le Mars, IA; a son and his wife, Tim and Sheila LaBreche of Le Mars, IA a daughter, Jennifer LaBreche and her husband, Rowell Sotto of San Jose, CA; grandchildren, Jonathan LaBreche, Hazel (LaBreche) Ritsema and her husband, Jake, Kai Sotto and Story Sotto; his brothers, Robert LaBreche of Noblesville, IN, Peter LaBreche and his wife, Becky of Whitesburg, KY and Andy LaBreche and his wife, Pam of Rutherfordton, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jon and Jack LaBreche.
