Obituary for Constance Marie Klemme (Smolen)
Constance M. Klemme, 66, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Rejoice! Community Church in Le Mars. Rev. Mike Metten will officiate. Visitation with the family present will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
Constance Marie Klemme was born on May 22, 1956, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Daniel and JoAnn (Beers) Smolen. She attended Westminster High School where she was a cheerleader and competed with the local swim team. Connie graduated in 1974. A trip to visit relatives took her to Le Mars. She took a temporary job with the phone company. She met Terry Klemme and they were married on October 14, 1978.
After their marriage, Connie took a position with Wells Dairy. She later attended Western Iowa Technical Community College in Sioux City and majored in bookkeeping. Connie worked at Shopko and then took a break to help raise their daughter, Lyndsey. In later years, she worked at the Le Mars Flower House and CSS.
Connie loved camping and hiking in the mountains. She also enjoyed boating at Okoboji and trips to Mexico. She was an avid Denver Broncos fan.
Grateful to have shared her life is her husband, Terry Klemme of Le Mars, IA; a daughter, Lyndsey Klemme of Denver, CO; a grandson, Eames Bustamante (Terry’s battle buddy) of Denver, CO; and a brother, Mike Smolen of Thailand.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Rob and Gary.
