Obituary for Duane Bernard Riepma
Le Mars, Iowa – Duane Bernard Riepma, 73, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2022, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Pastor Brian Hofman of Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Le Mars will officiate. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2022, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Duane was born on July 14, 1949, in Pipestone, Minnesota to Bernard and Annetta (Sankey) Riepma. He attended school in Pipestone until the family moved to Orange City, Iowa where he graduated from high school. He married Jean Huisman in 1970 and they were blessed with two daughters. Duane had several jobs over his lifetime, including working as a carpet installer, furniture salesman in Beresford, South Dakota and Le Mars and working on a turkey farm in New Richmond, Minnesota. Duane later married Marlene Allen. He returned to the Le Mars area to be closer to his family and worked for Casey’s Bakery as a delivery person.
Duane enjoyed horses, fishing and country western dancing.
He will be lovingly remembered by a daughter, Allison and Josh Kempema and their children, Caleb, Gabriel, Kennedy and Bailey; and a daughter, Mellissa and Terry Swets all of Sioux Center, IA; his siblings, Cheryl Prins of Sioux Falls, SD, Randy Riepma of Westminster, CO, Ruth (Larry) Riemersma of Sioux Center, IA, Elaine (Chuck) Zomermaand of Struble, IA, Sally (Mike) Vander Weide of Spencer, IA, Michael (Kerrie) Riepma of Struble, IA, Deb (Todd) Ter Haar of Seney, IA, Cindy (Dale) Stupke of Avondale, AZ, Tony Riepma of Westminster, CO; sister-in-law, Marilyn Riepma of Leesburg, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger Riepma; and a sister and her husband, Teresa and Martin Moeller.
