Obituary for Elvera Elaine Specht (Eldredge)

Elvera Elaine Specht, 88, of rural Cleghorn, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at her home. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus, Iowa. Rev. David Doellinger and Rev. Don Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Earnest – Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus. The family will be present from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.

Elvera Elaine Specht was born on January 17, 1934, in Cleghorn, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Maggie (Wittrock) Eldredge. She graduated from Cleghorn High School in 1952.

On September 28, 1952, Elvera and Robert Specht were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Marcus, Iowa. Along with farming, Elvera’s life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling, flower and vegetable gardening, raising hens and selling many eggs. She also liked crossword puzzles, walking and decorating indoors and outdoors for holidays. She was well known for her famous brownie recipe.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Steve Specht of Cleghorn, IA, Elaine Specht of Marcus, IA, Diane (Steve) Pitts of Cleghorn, IA and Brian (MeLisa) Specht of Cleghorn, IA; grandchildren, Kelli (Joel) Egland, Brad Pitts, Justin (Amanda) Pitts, Alisa Dixson, Jacob (Amanda) Dixson, Zachary Dixson, Kristen (Eric) Dixson, Stephanie (Jeff) Wagenaar, Zachary Specht, Bethany (Dawson) DeBoer , Benjamin Specht, Kristin (Bob) Hudelson, Jen Rohwer, Jason (Renee) Bork, Bob (Chelsea) Bork, Eric (Sarah) Bork, Nathan (Josie) Crouch, Ashley (Johnny) Kelly and Zachary (Megan) Crouch; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Ethan, Owen and Colton Egland, Preston and Bryson Pitts, Carson and Emilia, Pitts, Kaleigh Dixson, Jacob, Evelyn and Rosemary Dixson, Amelia, Harrison and Samuel Schreier, Lena and Jameson Wagenaar, Brantley and Sophia Crouch, Carter, Jakson and Lincoln Kelly, Bently and Ryker Crouch; a sister, Charlotte Barnes of Cherokee, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Elvera was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert on April 20, 2005; daughter-in-law, Rosemary Specht; infant sister, Donna Jean; sisters, Delores Bunch and Darlene Tesch; and a brother Duane Eldredge.
