Obituary for Patricia Ann Donlin (Zieren)
Patricia “Pat” Donlin, 81, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Mauer – Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Patricia Ann Donlin was born on July 19, 1941, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Francis J. and Katherine “Dolly” (O’Connor) Zieren. She attended grade school at Hunt Elementary in Sioux City, sixth through eighth grade at Cathedral School, and graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 1959. She went to work at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Sioux City as a long- distance operator in 1959. She married Sam Susie in January of 1962 and they later divorced in 1973.
On July 24, 1974, Pat married Dale Donlin in Le Mars, Iowa. They made their home in Le Mars where Pat took a position at First National Bank and later Medical Associates (Family Medicine Clinic). She retired in 2010, after 21 years at Medical Associates.
Pat will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. In her spare time, she volunteered at the Floyd Valley Hospital Gift Shop. Pat was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time on the computer. No one loved her cats, CJ and Shadow, as much as she did. Pat was also a Green Bay Packers Fan.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Robert (Terryl) Susie of Livermore, CA, Laurie Susie of Scottsdale, AZ and Christopher (Sheila) Susie of Singapore; her step-children, Terri Donlin of Le Mars, IA Cynthia Pageler of Wenatchee, WA, Cheryl (John) Moriarty of Moneta, IA, Stephen Michael Donlin of Le Mars, IA, Lilah Jo (Michael) Calhoun of Killeen, TX, Kristina (Marty) Mashburn of Franklin, NC; 20 grandchildren, Chip, Cedar, Jesse, Caitlin, Heidi, Bryan, Christoffer, Alexandria, Joshua (Pam), Charles, David (Heather), Jerrold (McKella), Brandon (Ashley), Ashley (David), Matthew, Jillian, Nicole, Paige, Alexandra and Samantha; 28 great-grandchildren, Abigail, Hannah, David, Lily, Rachel, Jonathan, Hope, Makayla, Alex, Mackinzie, Jaida, Brooklyn, Adrianna, Aniyah, Mikey, Willow, Marlie, Kylee, Cora, Mila, Hunter, Hayden, Rilee, D.J., C.J., Ainsley, Teagan, Alexandra and Damian; sisters-in-law Lorraine Becker of Des Moines, IA and Sharon Donlin of Harlan, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale on February 20, 2022, a sister, Mary Lee; a sister and brother-in-law, Arline and Rex Shober; sisters and brothers-in-law, Roscoe and Evelyn Small. Gene Becker, Jack Donlin and Gary Donlin.
