Obituary for Rose Marie Lauters (Feese)

Rose M. Lauters, 86, of Carroll, Iowa, formerly of Marcus, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023, at the Swan Place Assisted Living in Carroll. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. Father Timothy Pick will celebrate Mass. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023, at the Earnest-Johnson Funeral Home in Marcus. The family will be present from 5:30-7 p.m. with a Rosary at 5:30 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour before the Mass at the church on Tuesday.

Rose Marie Lauters was born on August 2, 1936, at her grandparent’s house in Tekamah, Nebraska to Frank and Iva (Patterson) Feese. She graduated as salutatorian from Jefferson High School in Jefferson, South Dakota in 1954. Following high school, she graduated nurse’s training at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, graduating with her RN degree in 1957.

On October 26, 1957, Rose was united in marriage to Peter Lauters at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. Rose enjoyed doing cross stitch, crafts, quilting, sewing, reading, playing cards, watching Professional Bull Riding (PBR) and singing in the church choir where she was a song leader. She also belonged to a food club, was a 4-H leader and a CCD teacher. Rose worked at the State Mental Hospital in Cherokee as an RN.

Rose will be lovingly remembered by her children, Debra (Alex) Paul of Sweet Home, OR, Ronald (fiancé Cindy) Lauters of Dexter, MO, Rick (Tina) Lauters of Lennox, SD, and Diane (Norm) Wernimont of Auburn, IA; a daughter-in-law, Michele Lauters and Tim Van Wyhe of Le Mars, IA; grandchildren, Angela (Matt) Spratt, Amy (Michael) Maynard, T.J. (Amber) Paul, Kaitlin (BobbyDale) Billingsley, Tyler (Jamie) Lauters, Erin (Brooks) Probst, Preston Lauters, Madison Lauters, Jonathan Lauters, Lindsey (Eric) Tonsfeldt, Jaclyn (Courtney) Gordon, Jamie (Danielle Polk) Wernimont and Joel Wernimont; 14 great-grandchildren; her brother, Wesley (Dede) Feese of McCook Lake, SD and her sister, Mary Kleber of McCook Lake, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her son David; her brother Frankie Feese; and her brother-in-law, David Kleber.
