Obituary for Edward Eugene Steeg Jr.

Le Mars, Iowa – Edward E. Steeg, Jr., 79, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars. Rev. Janis Christensen will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ with the family present from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Edward Eugene Steeg, Jr. was born on May 13, 1943, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Edward Sr. and Marcella (Olmstead) Steeg. He attended school in Jefferson, South Dakota and later graduated from Sioux City Central High School. Following school, Ed took a position with Concrete Pipe.

Ed and Barbara Elsen were united in marriage on March 31, 1970, in Minnesota. Ed changed careers and began working in the heating and cooling industry in the area. Ed attended Marine Repair School in Faribault, Minnesota. He worked for Jordan Air in the heating and cooling industry until his retirement.

Ed had a passion for antique boats and vintage cars. He enjoyed camping, boating and repairing boats. He followed the Minnesota Vikings and enjoyed watching his grandson, Evan, play high school football. He loved spending time with his three grandsons, Evan, Adler and Rhodes. He loved his chihuahuas, Ellie, Lucy, Anna and Penny.

Grateful to have shared his life is his wife, Barb Steeg of Le Mars, IA; children from his first marriage, a daughter, Sherry and her children; sons, Todd and Alan; Ed’s sons with Barb, Matt Steeg and his wife Angie, Luke and his significant other, Aimee Hixson, and Jesse Steeg and his wife, Tracy all of Le Mars, IA; grandchildren, Evan, Adler and Rhodes; four siblings including a brother, Gary Steeg and his wife, Barbara of Elk Point, SD; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Emmelynn Steeg; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Karl and Vera Elsen; a sister, Jackie Phillips; special friends, Pat Jordan, Tom Morley, and Dallas Sexton and several aunts and uncles.
