Obituary for Dennis Robert "Bob" Holzman
Dennis Robert “Bob” Holzman, 56, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Mercy One in Sioux City, Iowa following complications of a fall and a battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Rev. Aaron Iacino will officiate. Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present from 5-7 p.m.
Dennis Robert “Bob” Holzman was born on April 23, 1967, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Leon and Nancy (Pierson) Holzman. He attended school at Gehlen Catholic Schools in Le Mars through the 9th grade. Bob finished is schooling in California. He remained there for a few years prior to moving to North Carolina. He married Mindy Wagner in North Carolina and they were blessed with a son, Nicholas. They later divorced and Bob returned to Le Mars. While living the area, Bob worked at Jansen’s Lawn Service and Randall’s Formal Wear (Now Tip Top Tux) in Sioux City. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed working out and weightlifting. He was also fond of the outdoors, hiking, walking and biking.
Bob had a strong Christian faith and many friends at his church. He loved to help the homeless. He always prayed for anyone in need and was right there for his family. He would give away his last dollar to help someone. Bob was a wonderful son, brother, friend, uncle, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Nicholas (Holly of NC) of Texas and his children, Noah Holzman of Jacksonville, NC and Nathan and Charlie Hamilton of Sioux City, IA; his mother, Nancy Holzman of Le Mars, IA; a sister and her husband, Julie and Curt Heck of Sioux City, IA; a brother and his wife, Travis and Jill Holzman of Le Mars, IA; nieces and nephews, Mike (Anabel) Heck of Sioux City, IA, Austin Heck of Sioux City, IA, Jace, Taia and Isaac Holzman of Le Mars, IA; great-nieces and nephew, Julieana and Jay Heck and Aurora Holzman; close friends, Mindi and Dan Schwab; and many aunts and uncles.
He was preceded by his grandparents; and his father, Leon on October 14, 2021.
