Margaret Ann Alesch was born on June 1, 1935 in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Steven and Frances (Kemp) Kellen. She was 9th of 14 children. Meg graduated from St. Joseph School in Le Mars (now Gehlen) and later attended St. Joseph’s Mercy School of Nursing in Sioux City.
On February 14, 1956, Meg married James Alesch at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Le Mars. Together they farmed west of Marcus, Iowa until 2000 and moved to Marcus to retire. Meg was employed as the secretary at Holy Name Catholic Church from 1976 to 1994 and also at the Heartland Care Center.
She was a kind, caring and sweet devoted Christian who prayed daily. Meg was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Guild. She had an open heart and welcomed everyone into her home. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, sewing, quilting, and spending time with her family. Meg also loved playing cards, especially “hand and foot”, doing puzzles, coloring, family camping trips and Walmart runs.
